Today, the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad still utilizes the ex-Milwaukee Road turntable and roundhouse at Janesville Wisconsin for day to day operations. Although both structures have been updated and modernized by the [[Central Wisconsin railroad, the Wisconsin and Calumet Railroad and the Wisconsin and Southern, the charm of railroading in the early 20th century remains for everyone to enjoy.

Built in 1905, the building is used for routine service and maintenance of the railroads locomotives and freight cars, THE Janesville Terminal Dispatch offices and Southern Division Trainmaster office, Southern Division Roadmaster and Maintenance of Way offices, and Southern Division store rooms.[1] The roundhouse has received many improvements over the years, including new windows, weather tight doors, and a modern roof. Outside, along with the rebuilt turntable, new fueling and water stations, and a new sand tower were added.

The Janesville turntable was completely rebuilt by the Wisconsin and Southern in 2004 and is still in use today. It is an electric turntable with a control hut on the outer edge. This allows locomotives to be turned with ease and aligned to one of the eight service bays of the roundhouse.
