Welcome to the brand new Railroad Depot, built by railroad enthusiasts for railroad enthusiasts.

What is the Railroad Depot?

Contents

The Railroad Depot has been around since April 1998 and has taken on many incarnations since then. The owner, Shane Lambert, has wanted to use this domain name to provide virtually unlimited information about Model Railroading and all things related to the railroad industry. However, he is only one man and it has taken some time to finally decide to install software on the site that will allow others to contribute information. Our goal is to make this site a free exchange of information about railroading in general, model railroading, rail fanning, and so much more.

Anonymous Editing Disabled

Well, it seems some people have decided to SPAM this system and add garbage that we just don't need. So, to help cut down on some of that, and make it easier for me to manage this site, I have disabled editing by Anonymous users. You will now need to register with teh site and log in to make any changes to this site. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I don't want this site to become a place for people to advertise adult videos. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

We need your help

That's right, we need your help. We can only provide information that we know, and since we have no research budget, we can't build pages or this site without your help. Check out the How to Contribute page to find out how you can help build this web site. We have started building pages on this site, and have included links in those pages to more pages we want you to help us build. If you can provide information for these pages, or pages we haven't yet thought of, please consider contributing. We will be keeping track of our biggest contributors and will provide credit where credit is due.

Our Goal

Our goal is to actually build and manage pages for railroads where no other page can be found, such as the Tomahawk Railway and the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad, to name a couple we have already done. We will leave it up to you to fill in the rest of the pages. As you browse around our site, you will see two colors of links:

  • Blue Links: Indicate that a page has already been started for that topic. You are allowed to add more content to that page if you wish.
  • Red Links: Indicate that there is currently no page for that topic. Be the first to share information by clicking on the link and starting the page.
