The following information provides the rules and guidelines for using the Rolling Stock Yahoo! Group managed by the Railroad Depot. Please familiarize yourself with the items in this document before joining or posting messages to this group.

Contents

What is Allowed?

The Rolling Stock group on Yahoo! Groups was created to allow model railroaders of all scales to discuss tips and tricks to help build and maintain properly operating rolling stock. This includes, but is not restricted to:

  • Proper installation and maintenance of couplers and wheels.
  • Discussions regarding the advantages and disadvantages of different types of couplers and wheels.
  • Discussions regarding proper gaging of couplers and wheels.
  • Discussions as to the proper weight required for different types of rolling stock.
  • Discussions about track curve radius and track turnouts.

What is Not Allowed?

  • The Rolling Stock group on Yahoo! Groups was not created to discuss the appearance or details of rolling stock. These messages will be considered off topic and the poster will be removed from the group if continued abuse of the group continues. This is not a rivet counting group and we will not allow you to turn it into one. If you must be a rivet counter, please consider using our Rivet Counter Group.
  • Members shall refrain from posting derogatory remarks about any other member, any model railroad product or manufacturer, or the moderators or owner of this group. This type of behavior will result in your account being banned from this group.
  • Members may not use this list to attempt to sell any products or services. Offering to do work for another member and collecting for postage and materials will be allowed, but please protect your privacy and share personal information in direct e-mails and not through the group. Messages informing other members of a great deal on parts or materials will be allowed so long as the member posting the message is not compensated in any way for the sale of these items.

What does moderated mean?

In an attempt to cut down on the amount of SPAM and other junk e-mail sent to our list, we have opted to run this list moderated. This means that all new members must be approved by one of our moderators before they are allowed to post. We will try to approve all new memberships within 24 hours. New members will remain on a moderated status until they have posted at least 3 on-topic posts to the group. This means that until you are taken off of moderated status, all of your messages will require the approval of one of our moderators before it will go out to the list.

We also reserve the right to place any member back on moderated status if they post 2 or more off-topic messages after being warned about their behavior. Continued abuse of this list will result in having your membership removed and your account banned from our list. We don't want to have to do this, but to keep our list clean it is required.

Although this list is moderated, do not assume that we will be come message Nazi's. When we refer to off-topic messages we mean messages that have absolutely nothing to do with the proper operation of model railroad rolling stock, messages attempting to sell products or services, and of course any SPAM or unsolicited commercial e-mail.

Updates and Changes

We reserve the right to make changes to these rules at any time. When changes are made, a message will be sent to all active members in the list. All members must start to comply with any rule changes within 72 hours of their addition to this page.
